Hi Becky! I just loved your page. Your Mom e-mailed it to me in the Christmas letter and I loved it...CONGRATULATIONS...my favorite horse story is...when I was about 8 my Dad bought these really ugly horses for me and my two brothers. I wasn't much of a horse rider but still I wanted one. We went into Newman Grove and bought these three horses which Dad instructed us we had to ride home. I rode those two miles home doing really good until we were just outside the driveway. My horse was this old bag named Grandma...she proceded to run through the tress and try and brush me off...suddenly she stopped and I went flying over her head on the ground. I chipped my tail bone and never rode a horse again....So I really admire you for your ability .. because I really stink at riding a horse..

Good Luck at the Miss Pinto America Competition Becky! I like your webpage. Here is my horse story: A few years ago my husband, kids and I were going to go on the Grand Island Benefit trail ride. We knew all the horses would cross the Platte River except mine. So we decided to get my gray quarter mare (Sierra)used to water about a week before the ride. My husband and I rode our horses out to our pasture where we have a watershed and a good sized creek. My mare wouldn't cross the creek at first, but we got her in. Then I followed my husband's horse up the creek riding in the water, and the banks got steeper and higher on each side. My mare (Sierra)decided she had had enough of the wading, and started to climb the straight up bank. As I turned her head to swing her back in the water, she resisted and kept trying to climb out. The result was, we fell! I flew down in the water and watched as her big gray body started to slide down the bank towards me. I covered my eyes as the saddle horn proceeded to slide closer to my face. Somehow, after rolling a few times, she struggled up on her feet and climbed up the bank and ran off toward home covered with mud. As I slowly rose out of the muddy creek, no serious injuries thank God!, my husband laughed and hooted so hard, at the sight of me, covered from head to toe with mud and water, angrily cussing my gray mare, Sierra! After that episode I switched to riding Paints/Pintos! see ya, Ellen

My dad had purchased a horse for us kids on the farm so the very first time I got on it with my older brother at the reins, we were both thrown off. My dad immediately sold the horse. Here is a little horse story from me, I was about 4 years old and Santa had come to town and gave my brother a crabby old Shetland pony named Thunder. Thunder hated to be ridden, so in order to get him used to weight on his back instead of pulling Santa's sled, my brothers put me on his back. The first time they plopped me on his bare back he bolted forward at what I thought was a horrifying speed! My brothers screamed hold on!!! I did for my life until Thunder came to an abrupt and screaching halt. I flew over his head and fell bottom first onto a thistle. I have never been much of a horse woman since. If you want to know a little bit about me, I've been a member of Pinto since 1983 where I rode my pony Patches. But I've been a pinto owner since I was about 2 years old. I love the color. I like going to local shows and standing out. I also currently play competitive volleyball in the Ann Arbor area. I also play with my son ("Devin") and look after his father to so that they don't get into trouble. Currently I work at Ford Motor Company in the Engine Design division, let's just say that I'm the only girl in my group, go figure.

Hi Becky, Hopefully you will remimber me. I met you at the world show the year that you were crowned. I hung out with you and many of the other contestants during the show. I have just recently met your special MOM, via the internet, as she is doing the work on the Membership directory for TPEA this year, 2005. The good Lord has ways of entertaining "divine appointments" and this is exactly what I call my meeting your mom. I loved everything about your web site and all the photos were super, and the accomplishments you have been awarded with your horse, owned or leased...are many and to be highly commended. It is my true belief that the horse show ring is a great place to learn about life, as it comes to us as a "present" and also looking forwards to tomorrow. The maturity and self confidence that develops over time as you show horses is a great determining factor in how you will meet and deal with the many things you will face from now on in life.
